PASSIONATE INTRINSIC LIFE LONG LEARNERS

We have an ongoing commitment to continue to develop our ‘True learning environment’ designed to meet the specific individual learning needs of students. We have created programs to ensure our students are engaged, responsible for their learning, motivated and proud of their achievements. We believe it is important that we inspire our children to learn because they are motivated and passionate about learning and not just because we ask them to learn. As a result we are creating intrinsic learners where children have a very strong desire to learn. It is important that we develop this motivation and passion for learning within our children, so it will take them into the future as lifelong learners.

As part of being motivated and inspired to learn children take responsibility for their own learning by:

1.    understanding their learning needs,

2.    creating and implementing strategies to learn; and

3.    recognising and evaluating their own and others achievements for individual and collective development. (top)

With the desire to learn and do well our children are achieving fantastic results!

FOUR PILLARS CURRICULUM

We have created our own curriculum to enable students to understand the processes of learning and how to improve their learning skills. This enables our students to reflect on and analyse their own learning processes and create higher standards resulting in greater achievements. This curriculum comprises of six pages of learning keys framed using the ‘Four Pillars of Learning’ – Learning to be, Learning to know, Learning to do and Learning to live together from Learning the Treasure Within – Jacque Delor UNESCO

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

The Little Bendigo Primary School staff define ‘Academic Excellence’ as:

Striving for excellence in all areas with all children built on a system of positive reinforcements with the belief that achievements do count as a pathway to individual success.

This has become a program within our school where staff and students are continually analysing their achievements and looking for self-improvement. This process then relates to the ‘Four Pillars Curriculum’. For example, children set their own goals, analyse their achievements, create and implement strategies for improvement and then evaluate their improvements. (top)

ENJOY LEARNING

It is all about creating an enjoyment of learning, wanting to learn and being provided with the tools of how to learn, not just for now but also for the future.  (top)
